Rise of the Tomb Raider – New info about QTE, damages, animations and running

During a Q&A session among fans of Rise of the Tomb Raider and the Creative Director Noah Hughes, there was some new information about the title coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this year. The session began in early March and ended with the answers of Hughes on March 28. Here’s what we learned:

  • As in the previous chapter, Lara’s clothes will rip and get dirty in the continuation of the game; they will get wet in contact with water and then dry out slowly;
  • There will be a damage system that will show Lara in a “certain way” (Hughes does not specify how) in the case suffer strokes;
  • The animations will be more interactive with the hub; In fact, when Lara approaches to a fire will try to warm up her hands, when she steps back out into the cold, she shivers for a moment as she adjusts to the temperature;
  • There will not be a button or a function that will allow Lara to run to quickly reach a place; developers have sought rather to make the maps more content-rich and urge the player to use the skills and tools to traverse rather than simply allow to run;
  • The QTE will be present, but will be used sparingly; they will be less frequent in the fighting than its predecessor and will be effective in times of difficulty for Lara, for example, when you find trapped, but with hands-free, you can swing the axe by pressing Y.

We will wait for more information about Rise of the Tomb Raider in the coming weeks!
